Creating a Dashboard

Purpose

  1. To explain use cases and setup of the First Due Dashboard Module.

Information

  1. Dashboards put information from various sources, both within First Due and elsewhere, in one easy to navigate view.
  2. Dashboards are highly configurable, and one agency can use multiple dashboards across several different functional areas of the organization.
  3. Links, Pages, Reports, and Report Charts can be added to Dashboard "Widgets". The Widgets are then placed on the Dashboard to create a view.


Directions


1. Navigate to the Dashboards Module at the top of the Module Stack.






2. Click on Add Dashboard.

3. Type in the name of the board, and click Create.

4. Click on Edit Layout.

5. Click on Add widget.


Click on Add widget.



6. The first type of widget that can be created is Links. Links allow you to have a list of quick links to access websites. Similar to a Bookmark Bar in your browser.
  • Type in the name of the Links List.
  • Click Add Link for each link to be included in the widget.

   
    



7. The second type of widget is a Page. This allows you to view and interact with a web page within the dashboard. 
  1. Type in the title that you want. 
  2. Type in the URL. 
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select whether or not the page can be navigated from within the Dashboard. If remove navigation is selected, the dashboard view of the page will be read only.

 
        



9. The final type of Widget is a report. These are Ad-Hoc Reports created in your First Due environment. You can view either the report table or the report chart within the dashboard.
  1. To view a report table, select "Report" widget type.
  2. To view a report chart, select "Report Chart" widget type.
  3. Define the Title, which will display as a header in the dashboard.
  4. Select the appropriate report from the dropdown list.
 
   



10. You can resize the widgets by selecting the lower right hand corner and dragging.

11. With "Edit Layout" selected, Widgets can be moved around the dashboard by selecting and dragging to its new position. 
You can also: 
  • Edit the widget title / link / associated report by selecting the pencil. 
  • Delete the widget by selecting the trash can. 





12. When done adjusting and adding widgets, click Save. The dashboard is now ready for use.
