Hydrants: Relocating & Editing

Hydrants: Relocating & Editing

Purpose Statement

This article explains how administrators can edit hydrant information and location within various areas of the First Due platform. It outlines where editing capabilities are available and how to perform updates based on user permissions.

Background Information

Editing hydrant data is essential for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. Administrators can access hydrant editing tools from multiple views including Web Responder, Preplan Maps, Hydrant Map, and the Hydrant List. This flexibility ensures that hydrant data can be updated in real time from different operational contexts.

Required Permissions

Users must have administrative permissions to edit hydrant information. These permissions are typically assigned to Admin or Configuration roles and can be managed under Admin > Permissions > Hydrant Module.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. In Web Responder view, select a hydrant to reveal the option to edit.

2. In Pre-Plans Map this option is also available by selecting a hydrant.

3. In the Hydrant Map, selecting a hydrant will activate the edit menu at the top of the screen. Select Edit to update hydrant information and change its location.

4.  To edit any of the Hydrant information, select the field and then change or enter the desired information within that field. After making all desired edits, click Save.

5. To change the hydrant location, drag and drop the hydrant to the new position on the map. When finished, select Save.

6. In the Hydrant List view, the Pencil Icon allows the User to edit the hydrant information only, the Hydrant location is not able to be changed.

Best Practices

Ensure that only authorized users have access to hydrant editing tools to maintain data integrity. Always verify hydrant location changes before saving. Use consistent naming conventions and data formats when updating hydrant fields.
