Performing a Monitor Import inside an ePCR

Purpose Statement

This article explains how EMS providers can filter and import patient care data from integrated medical devices into an ePCR within First Due. This process reduces manual data entry, improves documentation accuracy, and ensures vital signs, procedures, and events are correctly captured for reporting and compliance.

Background Information

First Due integrates with supported EMS medical devices to automatically capture patient data such as vital signs, procedures, and case summaries. Providers can review, filter, and selectively import this data directly into an active ePCR.
Common use cases include:
  • Importing monitor vitals recorded during patient care
  • Reducing duplicate documentation
  • Ensuring accurate timestamps and device-sourced data
Prerequisites:
  • An active ePCR
  • A supported, integrated EMS medical device
  • Data transmitted from the device to First Due

Required Permissions

Users must have permissions that allow them to:
  • Access ePCRs - My EMS Care Reports - Read, Update, Create
Permissions are typically assigned by an administrator within User Roles & Permissions.

Best Practices

Do’s
  • Verify device ID and timestamps before importing
  • Use filters to reduce unnecessary data
  • Review imported data for accuracy after completion
Don’ts
  • Don’t import data from the wrong device or incident
  • Don’t skip reviewing vital sign intervals before importing
  • Don’t assume all data should be imported—select only what’s needed
Tips & Recommendations
  • Use shorter intervals for cardiac or critical patients
  • Import only finalized data to avoid duplicates
  • Confirm device connectivity before starting documentation

Troubleshooting & FAQs

The device case does not appear
  • Confirm the device is integrated and transmitted data
  • Expand the date range using filters
Imported data is missing
  • Verify selections before clicking Import
  • Confirm you are viewing the correct ePCR tabs
Duplicate data appears
  • Ensure data was not imported previously
  • Review timestamps and intervals carefully
