NERIS Documentation - Command and Safety

Purpose

  1. The purpose of this article is to assist with the documentation of the Command and Safety section when completing a fire report.

Directions


1. Navigate to the Operations section and select the Command And Safety tab.

2. Within the Command And Safety tab you are able enter pertinent information that took place during the incident.
  1. Areas that can be documented along with information such as Date/Time, Units, Personnel, and any Branches that were engaged during the incident are:
    1. Initial Command Established
    2. Transferred Command
    3. 360 Size Up Completed
    4. Branches Engaged
    5. HazMat Actions
    6. Controlled


Within the Command And Safety tab you are able enter pertinent information that took place during the incident.



3. From the Initial Command Established you are able to document Date/Time, Unit, Incident Commander, and add Notes.
  1. Using the dropdown/list view to document the Unit and Incident Commander fields.
  2. Notes is a free text field.





4. To set the Date/Time either by selecting the stopwatch icon or clicking within the field.
  1. Stopwatch icon will timestamp the current date/time.





5. When selecting in the Date/Time field you can manually enter the information then select Apply.





6. When Command Transferred is enabled you are able to document who Command was transferred to in the same fashion as the Incident Commander.

7. Enabling the 360 Degrees Size-up Completed allows you to document the Date/Time, Unit, Personnel who completed the 360 Size-up along with adding any Notes.





8. When the Operations Section engaged toggle is enabled using the dropdown or list view to select the branch or branches engaged during the incident.

9. Complete any HazMat Actions or Disposition if needed using the dropdown/list views.





10. If Evacuated Area is enabled new fields populate to further document pertinent information regarding the evacuated area.

11. Using the Date/Time or stopwatch to document with the incident was controlled.
  1. The Par Complete toggle allows you to state True/False, Yes/No that a Par was completed during the incident.
