1. Navigate to Hydrants module then select on Hydrant Setup.
2. There are four areas to manage your Hydrant setup.
- Notifications
- Preferences
- Flow & Service
- Field Selection
- Hydrant Zone
Notifications
- Here you are able to manage who will receive email notifications for hydrant work orders or a status service change.
1. First select where you want the email to come from, there are two options.
- The default which will come from hydrants@firstdue.com.
- You can use your agencies email but will have to verify by typing in the email address and selecting the verify button.
2. If you choose to use your agencies email and select on the verify button a modal will pop up indicating if successful, your hydrant work order emails will now be sent out from that verified email.
3. Using the toggle to enable which notifications will be sent, type in users names of who will receive those email notifications.
When Notify service changes are enabled:
Email notifications will be sent exclusively when the hydrant status undergoes a change via a Service check or direct editing on the Edit Hydrant page, with the "Notify Service Changes" toggle turned ON. Please note that status changes initiated through any of the import methods (Import Wizard, ArcGIS Sync, Import CSV) will not activate email notifications.
The email will include:
- Hydrant information (Hydrant ID/Facility ID/First Due ID)
- Location details if available.
- Action details (switched to OUT of Service/In Service)
4. If you want to notify someone of idle work orders you will have to set how long the work order will be idle for before the email will be sent.
5. Once you have completed all notification settings select Save.
Preferences section
- This section will allow you to choose the outline color of your hydrants along with how the hydrants will be colored on the map.
1. Select an outline color for your Hydrants.
2. Select how Hydrants will be colored on the map.
From the dropdown you can select:
Hydrant Base Color allows you to change the color of the hydrant not based on Flow test.
Calculated Flow Rate will automatically update the color of the hydrant according to the calculated flow upon completion of a flow test.
Flow Hydrant Rate will automatically update the color of the hydrant according to the actual flow upon completion of a flow test.
Flow & Service
- From the Flow & Service section you are able to select if you wish to get notifications of hydrant status changes along with Flow test settings.
1. Select this checkbox if you wish for personnel to require a reason why a hydrant is out of service.
- Examples when requiring remarks to out of service hydrants.

When editing a hydrant.
2. Determine Flow Testing Preferences:
Flow Test Target Pressure Differential %. It is by default at 25% but can be manually changed.
Enable simplified Hazen Williams formula by selecting the box. This is the formula used when auto calculating flow tests.
Select "Using Flow Test Results" if you are using flow test results.
NOTE: Recommended differential for flow testing is 25% (Source: NFPA 291 4.3.6, 2022 ed.)
3. Set a default value for your agencies hydrants outlet sizes along with coefficients.
This will auto-populate these set values when conducting flow test but users will still be able to manually adjust numbers if needed.
Field Selection
- From the Field Selection you will be able to choose what information will display in hydrant pop-ups.
1. Determine which hydrant identification you want to be displayed as your hydrant header.
Facility ID - Fire Department generated ID, typically linked to building, complex or other facility
Hydrant ID - Fire Department generated Hydrant number/ID (previously labeled: Xref_ID)
First Due ID - Unique ID created by First Due for all hydrants. Cannot be edited. (previously labeled: Hydrant #)
Facility ID's - hydrants can have duplicate identification (ID's) and null values.
Hydrant ID's - hydrants cannot have duplicate identification (ID's) but will accept null values.
2. This toggle if disabled will allow you to filter what information to be displayed in hydrant pop-ups.
If enabled all information will be selected and displayed.

Hydrant Zones
1. From the Hydrant Zones you are able to edit any existing zones or create new zones for your agency.
2. From the actions column you can edit a zone by selecting the pencil icon or delete by selecting the trash can icon.
3. To create a new zone select on the + Create Hydrant Zone.
4. Enter in the name of the new zone and select Create.
If editing an existing zone then select Update when you have finished editing.
