Purpose Statement
This article explains how administrators add, move and remove the Additional Inspectors table in First Due's Form Builder. The table lets a form record every inspector who took part in an inspection, not just the primary inspector. Each entry has its own name, rank and signature, which gives your agency accurate records for accountability, compliance and reporting.
Background Information
- What it is: Additional Inspectors is a prebuilt table element in the Form Builder. When you add it to a form, it automatically includes Name, Rank and Signature fields.
- Why it matters: Many inspections involve more than one person. With this table, everyone involved is documented and signs off on the inspection.
- Common use cases:
- Joint inspections by fire prevention staff and company crews
- Training inspections where a trainee works with a certified inspector
- Large or complex occupancies that need several inspectors
- Collecting multiple signatures for compliance
- Prerequisites:
- Access to the Form Builder in the module you're working in (see Required Permissions)
- An existing form to edit, or access to create a new one
- A plan for where the table should go in the form
Required Permissions
- Form Builder: Read, Update and/or Create
- Read: view forms in the Form Builder
- Update: edit existing forms, including adding, moving and deleting the table
- Create: create new forms
To check or grant access:
- Click the First Due logo to open the module stack.
- Select Admin, then select Roles & Permissions.
- Open the user's role and set the access levels for the Form Builder permission.
Note: Changes to a form affect every user who fills it out.

Best Practices
Do:
- Put the table near the form's sign-off section, so the form flows logically.
- After you add the table, check that the Name, Rank and Signature fields all appear.
- Save your form regularly as you build it.
- Test the form on both web and mobile, since inspectors often sign in the field on tablets.
Don't:
- Don't add the table more than once to the same form.
- Don't remove the table from a form that's in use without considering how that affects existing records and compliance reporting.
Common mistakes to avoid:
- Putting the table in a section that inspectors rarely open
- Clicking Delete only once and assuming the table was removed. Deleting it takes a second click to confirm.
- Leaving the Form Builder without saving your changes
Troubleshooting & FAQs
I can't find Additional Inspectors in the element menu. Check the spelling in the search bar, or scroll through the full list.
The table doesn't show the Name, Rank or Signature fields. Delete the table and add it again. If the fields are still missing, contact First Due Support.
I don't see the Form Builder or the plus (+) icon. Your role may not have access. Ask an administrator to check your permissions in Admin > Roles & Permissions.
The table won't drag to a new spot. Make sure you click and hold the six-dot icon while dragging. If that doesn't work, use the Move Up and Move Down arrows.
I deleted the table, but it's still on the form. Deleting takes two clicks. Click Delete a second time to confirm.
